A pilot garbage classification project has been applied in 72 areas in Futian District, including government departments, schools, hotels and communities.

Staff
Nearly 700 volunteers, supervisors and people responsible for sorting waste have been trained by professionals in the field.

Facilities
The district is building 26 waste-recycling stations and a kitchen waste processing station that will be able to handle 60 tons of kitchen waste per day. The district has prepared more than 7,000 trash cans, 10 million bags for kitchen waste and 3,000 buckets for washing and sanitizing, along with dining room signs, for families participating in the pilot project.

Each family will receive two trash cans and a garbage bag for kitchen waste, which will be collected by trained staff in the morning and evening.

Residential Communities
At residential communities participating in the pilot project, there are trash cans for four types of waste: recyclable, kitchen waste, harmful waste and other waste. In participating dining areas, there are trash cans for recyclable items, kitchen waste and other waste. At participating schools, government departments and companies, there are trash cans for recyclable items and other waste.
