Walking in Futian is a great way to explore and experience Futian life. It is one of the most interesting and quickest ways to get around the place.


Walking through Futian streets allows you to listen to the sounds of the district, browse through the hundreds of shops and find some of the best dining and bar experiences in China from the Coco Park bar street to the barbecue stands at Honey Lake Food Square. You can also appreciate performances by street artists at the cultural CBD surrounded by the city's concert hall, library, and book city, or enjoy blooming flowers and greenery at parks. For aboriginal culture, walk into one of the villages hidden among skyscrapers.



Rule for pedestrians:
For your own safety, it's important to follow traffic rules. Pedestrians caught jaywalking would be fined anything between 20 and 100 RMB, according to Shenzhen's traffic regulations. Pedestrians will be fined 100 RMB if their jaywalking offense leads to an accident or if they are multiple offenders.

Buses

Futian's public transport system features a comprehensive network of bus, Metro and taxi services.


Buses travel through Futian and beyond almost 24 hours a day. Many of the bus routes within Futian don’t have provide changes and so you need to bring either changes or a Shenzhen Tong Card with you when getting aboard.

Metro

Shenzhen’s total mileage of Metro lines is 178 km, covering the city’s major traffic corridors, living quarters, commercial zones, railway stations, airport, ferry terminal and border-crossings. Futian has plenty of Metro stations, and entering any of them, you can conveniently travel in and across the district. More Metro lines are being built around the city.

Taxi services

Taxies are available 24 hours a day in Futian. Flag down rates are 10 yuan, plus 3 yuan of fuel surcharge per trip. After 11 p.m., the flag down rates climb up to 13 yuan, also plus 3 yuan fuel surcharge per trip.

About Shenzhen Tong card

Shenzhen Tong is a contactless smartcard used in Shenzhen Metro and most public buses in Shenzhen.

If you have a valid driver license from your home country with at least 60 days prior to expiration, you can apply for a driver's license at Shenzhen Motor Vehicle Administration. You cannot drive with international driver's license here in China as it is not honored as valid license.
