The newly developed Futian central business district is also home to Shenzhen's most outstanding cultural facilities --- the new Shenzhen Library, Shenzhen Concert Hall, Shenzhen Museum, Children's Palace and Guan Shanyue Art Museum. The facilities gather in one place, each at five minutes' walking distance from the others and connected via terraces or squares. At night, several street bands of different styles perform in the area. The terrace of Shenzhen Book City connects to the foot of Lotus Hill Park.

Guan Shanyue Art Museum

Guan Shanyue Art Museum is opposite to Shenzhen Children’s Palace Station across Hongli Rd. It  is a national art gallery named after well-known painting master Guan Shanyue. It opened on June 25, 1997, and was inscribed by Jiang Zemin, former president of China. The museum is a nonprofit public cultural organization for displaying, collecting, and studying Guan's artworks. It also has other national contemporary art gallery functions.

Shenzhen Children's Palace

Located in downtown Shenzhen, Shenzhen Children's Palace covers 26,400 square meters and boasts investments totaling 538 million yuan (US$87 million). The construction style of the building is quite unique and features two separated areas, Children's Hill and Science Hill, which are connected by Crystal Stone Hall.

Shenzhen Book City CBD Store

Shenzhen Book City CBD Store is on the north side of the city's Central Business District, neighboring Lianhua Hill, the Civic Center, Shenzhen Concert Hall and Shenzhen Library. Construction started on July 5, 2004, and the store opened on Jan. 7, 2006. There also is a special store for foreign language books and a 24-hour bookstore.

Shenzhen Museum

Shenzhen Museum is a center for relic collections and historical research in the city. There are more than 20,000 collections in the museum, including ancient fossils, precious historic relics and art treasures from ancient China. The museum also has many important files and documents related to Shenzhen's history and development.
The best way to learn about China’s 30 years of reform and opening up is to visit the new Shenzhen Museum, which opened Dec. 18, 2008, in the east wing of the Civic Center. Besides hosting important touring exhibitions, the 32,000-square-meter museum holds permanent exhibitions about the history of Shenzhen, paying particular attention to the reform and opening that began in 1978 and to folk culture from the Qing Dynasty through today.

Shenzhen Concert Hall

Shenzhen Concert Hall is one of the most important symbolic cultural structures in Shenzhen. Located in the central area of Futian District, the concert hall was designed by Arata Isozaki, a famous Japanese avant-garde architect with a solid reputation in the international construction field. The canyon-terraced symphony hall covers a total area of 2,323 square meters and holds an audience of 1,680. It provides pure natural acoustics and is comparatively large for music halls in China. The pipe organ in the hall is the only one in Shenzhen. The three-story seating area is multifunctional and can be transformed from 400 to 580 seats when necessary. Since operating in 2007, the concert hall has hosted a wide variety of international music performances and musical competitions. The Beautiful Sunday project has been providing free concerts every Sunday afternoon since the opening of the concert hall.
